Buttonbush swamp intermixes with alder swamp in this wetland. Wetland is surrounded by residential, agricultural and strip mined land but the wetland itself (apprx 1000 feet wide and 2 miles long) has natural vegetation.;Alluvial floodlain shrub swamp with tall hummocks of sedge and shrubs as "islands" in wet season flooded terrain, between County Rd 3 and Big Beaver Creek. According to landowners, creek was severely altered and silted up by strip mining activity in the past 50 years. Beaver and otter have been observed by landowner in past and swamp white oak existed prior to mining.
